I have spent weeks trying to get the computer to clone and boot, but I always run into some version of a “no bootable device found” error when booting to the newly-cloned 1 TB SSD. The “old” SSD boots just fine, so it doesn’t seem to be a problem with the OS installation. If your cloned drive is a GPT disk, make sure the UEFI boot mode is enabled, and if it is an MBR disk, then set it to Legacy boot mode. If your computer does not support UEFI boot mode, you need to do a GPT to MBR conversion before you can boot from the cloned drive. Update: I enabled secure boot in the bios and it detected and booted using a cloned 2TB SSD without any issues. I'm not sure why Samsung says it supports 1TB for SSD in the manual. No issues with the 2TB SSD.
I cloned the drive using software provided by the SSD card (Acronis True Image). It took 14 hours to finish. I unplugged the old hard drive and plugged in the new one. Removed my auxiliary drive before cloning, removed my c: drive after clone completion and then booted with just the SSD installed. It now gives me a windows error code saying that my pc needs to. Solution: use Macrium Reflect bootable disc, go to restore > fix Windows Boot problem, it auto fix the boot manager. Remind next time after clone, boot the cloned disk alone without original source disk, connect after 1st boot. Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD. This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD. Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA.
I'm running Windows 10 on an HP Envy 700-311na and I installed an SSD and cloned my C:/ drive to it using EaseUS ToDo. My plan was to restart my PC, go into the BIOS and change the boot drive to Z:. I recently upgraded by SSD from 1 TB to 2 TB. I cloned the 1 TB drive to the 2 TB drive and when I installed the 2 TB drive, the system "sees" it but it won't boot to it. I've run all the diagnostic tests and every hardware components passes - including the 2 TB drive. Running sfc /scannow and dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth before cloning might do the trick. You could also try the onboard windows backup and restore to the new ssd with that. It should perform the necessary operations to boot just fine. –
