I have the small Loulou, and the Lou camera bag, and I much prefer the clean, classic chevron on the YSL to the much busier chevron/waves on the Gucci. However, the Alma is definitely more classic, and the Loulou is more on par with the puffy pillow trend that has sprung up this year. I think it depends on your personal style. It can fit passport, sunglasses, phone 11 pro, a small chanel card wallet, small pack of wet wipes, small pack of tissue, earphones and if possible a small power bank and usb. i love ysl envelope because of the back pocket but still, my goal is to buy a bag that fits those stuff mentioned above.
The camera is just an open box whereas the small has an internal divider with zipper section. My guess is they can carry roughly the same amount but with the camera it would all be thrown in and in the small it would be more organized. Note neither will carry a LOT - they aren’t huge bags.

In terms of an investment the Loulou might potentially be a better choice since the design is unique to Saint Laurent, whereas camera bags styles are found across most fashion houses. The biggest bag style I like is the Neverfull MM (sold my GM, hated the oversized look on me). I also hear amazing things about the buttery soft lambskin, but I’m leaning towards the wrinkly version ( I feel it’s less shiny- and it’s description is Matte on the YSL site).
